Join us for an information session on WestConnex and the disastrous impacts it will have on all of us with specific reference to Stage 3.
Speakers include local Stop WestCONnex campaigners, climate activists, health professionals and investigative journalist Wendy Bacon.
Imagine sitting on St Johns oval, looking up and seeing a tunnel off-ramp over your head. Imagine the noise of thousands of cars exiting the tunnel and the toxic fumes which waft over to you, mingling with your otherwise pleasant attempt to study in the sun.
Stage 3 of the WestConnex toll road currently includes a tunnel going underneath our university and has off-ramps coming out over the North-Western section of campus. We are at risk of losing parts of our campus to WestConnex. On top of that, the vibrations made by thousands of cars zooming underneath our university will have detrimental impact on sensitive medical and scientific equipment.
Not only is WestConnex going to be destructive for our university, it is destructive for our city, our economy, our health and our planet. All of this, and even the government's own modelling shows it won't solve traffic congestion.
