Simon Lowe, Strategic Transport Planner, Marrickville Council
Simon is currently Head of Transport Strategy at Marrickville Council, and has previously worked in the fields of transport and land use planning in both the private & public sector in London. Simon has most recently been involved in various major projects and delivering these projects primarily in the context of promoting low carbon growth, encouraging healthier travel choices, reducing congestion and developing more connected communities.
Dr Mehreen Faruqi MLC, Greens spokesperson on Transport
Greens MLC, Dr Mehreen Faruqi joined the NSW Legislative Council in June 2013. Since migrating from Pakistan to Australia in 1992, Mehreen’s work has focussed on developing real solutions to social and environmental challenges. Mehreen has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and a Master and PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Chris Standen, Transport Analyst University of Sydney
Chris Standen is a transport analyst at The University of Sydney, and an expert in transport-land use planning, traffic modelling and forecasting, transport and welfare economics, discrete choice analysis, and geospatial analysis. In addition to numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, he has written for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Conversation on transport issues.
Colin Schroeder, Co-convenor EcoTransit
EcoTransit Sydney is a public transport advocacy group operating out of Sydney. They are a not-for profit organisation made up of volunteers dedicated to the promotion of EcoTransit development. They advocate improving Sydney’s local environment by shifting transport from invasive modes like the private motor car that produce high levels of air, noise and water pollution to the less polluting public transport modes.
