Stop WestCONnex Non Violent Direct Action Training

The Baird Government is rushing ahead with its $17 billion plan to lock Sydney into decades of motorway building and associated high-rise redevelopment. However over the past few months we have seen the project look increasingly shaky as costs blow out, Stage 2 is delayed and plans for stage 3 change constantly.

We have a real opportunity to stop the madness now through non-violent direct action. This is your opportunity to learn its theory and practice!

Peaceful civil disobedience has played an important role in the history of democracy around the world and is being used across Australia to highlight and challenge injustice.

Course includes: introduction and overview, the current role of NVDA in the campaign, an exploration of the meaning of effective non-violence, fears and concerns, legal aspects, roles in direct action, practical and emotional preparation, physical tactics and action planning.

The course will be run by a group of individuals with several years experience in organising and training direct action. They have been involved in the Stop WestConnex campaign, Greenpeace, Frontline Action on Coal, Breakfree 2016 and more.

Cost: $10 contribution towards lunch and refreshments provided
