Stop WestConnex Non Violent Direct Action workshop

Peaceful civil disobedience has played an important role in the history of democracy around the world and is being used across Australia to highlight and challenge injustice and environmental destruction.

Nearly 20,000 submissions against WestConnex including many from professional bodies have been ignored by the Baird government as it pushes its tollway agenda through communities destroying lives and our environment.  The cost NSW will bear as a result of this disastrous project cannot be quantified.

Take Action Against WestConnex NOW  - join the campaign and register to attend this workshop

Course includes: introduction and overview, the current role of NVDA in the campaign, an exploration of the meaning of effective non-violence, fears and concerns, legal aspects, roles in direct action, practical and emotional preparation, physical tactics and action planning.

The course will be run by a group of individuals with several years experience in organising and training direct action. They have been involved in the Stop WestConnex campaign, Greenpeace, Frontline Action on Coal, Breakfree 2016 and more.

Cost: $10 contribution towards lunch and refreshments provided

RSVPs are essential:

With respect for our community, our opposition, ourselves, and our environment we affirm that, if necessary, we will engage in peaceful direct action to protect our community, our health and our climate from WestConnex.

Thank you for being part of the campaign to stop WestConnex and see investment instead in real public transport solutions for Sydney.
